The Department of Overseas Trade enclose a copy of

a letter received from Messrs. John Swire and Sons Limited,

relative to Hong Kong Light Dues, and request in the

general interest of British trade in the Far East that

the Board of Trade may take such action as may be possible

in the matter. The receipt of the letter has been

acknowledged.

2. A copy of this memorandum has been sent to the

Foreign Office.
